2 Important Facts About a Woman s Vagina Most Men Will Never Know

Genital size is a huge factor in our lives. Men and women stress about this on a daily basis. It headlines on the cover of several major magazines and is talked about by men and women alike. Now I'm not talking about penis size, I'm talking about the size of the vagina.

There are so many popular misconceptions about vaginal tightness.

  • The most common is that a woman with a loose vagina has had many partners.
  • Another popular myth is that a bigger/taller woman has a larger vagina and a small framed/petite woman has a smaller vagina.

The size and length of the vaginal canal doesn't much differ from one woman to the next when she is unaroused whether she is a size 2 or a size 2x. The vagina is a muscular canal which is 3 inches long unaroused and about 6 inches long when aroused.

The walls of the vagina consist of several layers of muscle and connective tissue which are resistant to permanent changes. While the walls of the vagina may stretch slightly during childbirth, it will not stretch from sex -- no matter how often you have it! Some treatments, surgeries, and medical conditions can cause a narrowing of the vaginal canal or can decrease the elasticity of the vaginal walls as will age and menopause. However, most changes in the vagina are temporary and correspond with certain times of the month and with a woman's level of arousal.

During a woman's monthly cycle she sheds and replaces a thin layer of tissue and cells known as her vaginal lining or mucosa. During foreplay, as a woman becomes aroused, her vaginal canal lubricates and expands to reduce excessive friction and create room for a penis. Her cervix also pulls upwards to help to lengthen her vaginal canal. While doing any wanted penetrative activity she is supposed to feel "loose". A woman who is "tight" is not properly aroused, and is not yet ready for penetration. A "tight" vagina is also a sign of a woman who is worried, stressed, or ill. These are factors that can be expected in today's hectic world, but in order to avoid tearing the delicate tissues of the vaginal walls (and causing pain and possibly infection), it is extremely important to apply extra lubrication.
