Help! My Marriage is Doomed
A common plea that I hear a lot is "Please help me save my doomed marriage". When someone mentions this to me, I am quick to point out to them that it sounds like they are already assuming the worst. Marriages certainly don't need to be "doomed", in fact they make very many people quite happy.
If you feel your marriage is doomed for failure, the first thing you need to do is take a step back and recognize that thinking negative thoughts like this is only going to make things worse. You need to have a positive outlook if you really want things to succeed.
Here are some more tips for working on your marriage before things get out of control:
Make a List of What is Wrong
Once you have the problems identified, it will be easier to determine what can be done to work on making them better. Make sure you both have equal input in creating this list together, so you understand what work needs done.
Once you have the list compiled and understand what is in front of you, it is time to start to identify what you each can do to work on the problem. This will require work from both of you. Even though some of the problems may appear one sided, you are a married couple, and need to work together as a team.
I would encourage you to not let things get out of hand. Address concerns as they come up before they grow into larger problems.
