What Causes Sexless Marriages?
Sexless marriages are on the rise throughout the world. The statistics state that around 15% of married couples in the United States alone live in a sexless marriage. This means that they are having sex less than 10 times a year. It's not known whether this is a new phenomenon or whether people are just more willing to talk about it these days.
This is a major problem which threatens the stability of many marriages and also produces a great deal of frustration and loneliness for millions of people.
But what causes sexless marriage? Why do they happen in the first place? There are many reasons. In this article I'll try to specify a few of the most common ones:
1. Reduction in sex drive - This is rare but it does happen. Either the man or the woman suffers some sort of physical reduction is sex drive. This can often be treated medically. Again, this is very rare.
2. Lack of sexual attraction - In certain cases, lack of sexual attraction causes sexless marriages and relationships. This happens when one of the spouses lets himself (or herself) go. Gaining weight, lack of working out or personal grooming, may lead to a decrease in sexual attraction and frequency of intercourse, but this is usually just an excuse because there are millions of overweight people who enjoy a healthy and fulfilling sex life. The real reason is usually much deeper.
3. Boring routine and lack of communication - This is the true reason why most sexless marriages occur. The lack of sex is simply a symptom of a relationship gone sour. Usually, the love is still there but the thrill and excitement is long gone. The main problem many couples have is that they fall into an unhealthy and boring routine inside the bedroom and outside. This can kill desire as sexual excitement needs diversification. The key is to get the excitement back into your life.
