Arizona Marriage License Requirements

In order for you to get married you must obtain a marriage license. You will obtain a license by applying for the license. So below I have listed the requirements to receive a marriage license in the state of Arizona.

You will need a drivers license or other identification card that shows proof of your current address and date of birth. Some counties require a birth certificate so it is wise to bring your birth certificate as well.

You do not have to reside in Arizona to receive your license.

Their are no waiting periods to receive your marriage license.

If you are divorced you do not have to have a copy of your divorce decree.

The fee's are $50.00 and you can pay with cash or money order. No checks.

You do not have to take any blood tests before receiving your marriage license.

If you are 16 or 17 years old, you must have the notarized consent of your parents or legal guardian. If you are under 16, you must have the notarized consent of your parents or legal guardian as well as a court order.

There are no proxy marriages in the state of Arizona.

You may marry your first cousins if you both are over the age of 65. If you are under the age of 65 then you must show the judge proof that one of you are unable to reproduce.

There are no common law marriages.

Marriages may be performed by a member of the clergy (including a minister, priest, bishop, rabbi, and imam), a judge, a magistrate, a clerk of the circuit court, or a clerk or clerk-treasurer of a city or town. Ministers must record the marriage on the marriage license and return it to the clerk of the Superior Court within 20 days after the marriage.

The marriage license is valid for one year and the license can only be used in the state of Arizona.
