Your Wedding Reception
What comes right after that big, splashy event at the church? No, it"s not the honeymoon. The reception party comes next!
How People"s Minds Work
The reception party is almost as important as the wedding ceremony itself. In truth, most guests come not because of the long (quite boring) ceremony but because of the celebration afterwards. Callous, am I? Hey, you probably think like that, too, when you"re invited to other people"s weddings so you can"t really blame them. It"s human nature.
Knowing now how people"s minds work, you"ll probably want to give the most smashing reception party ever just so they won"t go home saying, "Well, that was simply a waste of time" or "The food totally sucked, we should"ve just ordered takeout". One question remains, however. How exactly do you give the most smashing reception party ever?
The Most Smashing Reception Party Ever
Well, let me tell you now that the whole "most smashing reception party ever" thing is probably out of your reach. It"s probably out of most everyone"s reach. Even if you do manage to do it, the moment Bill Gates decides to hold his own reception party, yours will immediately cease being the "most smashing reception party ever." That"s life.
If you can"t have the best, then what will you do? What"s left for the rest of us who aren"t multi-gazillionaires? Well, the truth is, we"ll have to content ourselves with something that will satisfy our guests. Yes, satisfaction - that"ll be our ultimate aim in planning the wedding reception party.
Wedding Ceremony or Wedding Reception?
First, you should consider you priorities. Which do you want to be more smashing - the wedding ceremony or the wedding reception? Adjust your budget accordingly to the one you choose. Choose wisely; you don"t want to have any regrets afterwards.
Where, Oh Where?
Next, you have to choose the location. Make sure that it"s big enough to accommodate all of your guests and also, make sure that it"s beautiful enough to look surreal in photographs. Make sure that it"s accessible and that it"ll be easy for your guests to find. Oh, and don"t forget to make sure that renting the place won"t hurt your budget too much.
Mozart, Sinatra or Lionel Richie?
After that, choose the music that you"re going to play. You may want to go for the classical theme and choose some classical music or you might want to go for elegant and play some jazz. You might want your reception to be romantic so you stuff it full of love songs. Or, you might want it to be extra fun so you throw in some dance music. If you and your new spouse want to be a little different, play some rock or reggae music; some lyrics are really sweet if you listen carefully.
The Way to Your Guests" Heart is through Their Stomach
Choose your caterer wisely and make sure that your chef knows good food. Arrange for a taste test and charge it to experience and your credit card. Also make sure that food presentation is as good as the taste.
Always remember, though, that it"s YOUR wedding day and the important thing is for YOU to have fun. What really matters isn"t their satisfaction - but YOURS. Of course, satisfying your guests means satisfying yourself, right?
