How to Act on a First Date - Proven Tips
A first date with someone can be the first of many or the last; as such, it is a potentially terrifying experience for most people. First date etiquette can, however, be mastered. If you learn how to act on a first date you will practically ensure your chances of future dates. The steps that follow are proven techniques to ensure your first date turns into a multitude of others.
Confidence
When you feel apprehensive of the first date it can be a chore to display oodles of confidence; you must try, however. A lack of confidence will cause an uncomfortable atmosphere and spoil any occasion. People prefer the company of confident people.
Questions
You must show genuine interest in your date; it makes them feel special and wanted. Ask questions but ensure not to probe too deeply (only ask questions for which you can be certain they would not mind revealing the answers).
Clothing
Dress to impress. Try to choose an outfit that enhances your body but do not choose something too sexy. Ensure that you wear something appropriate for the outing. What we choose to wear says a lot about our personality; ensure that you are saying something positive and appealing.
Happy
This is your first date. She or he has agreed to go out with you. Be happy! Smile. Act as if you are thrilled to be on a date with this person. It is like you have just won the lottery.
Politeness
You must act politely and remember your manners. These are small things but mean a lot on a date. If you are a man, hold the doors open for your date, use pleasant language, eat politely and engage in pleasant conversation, allowing your date to speak freely and enjoy your attention when doing so.
Paying
I am old-fashioned; when it comes to paying, I believe the man should pay. However, if you are female, offer to pay half of the bill; it is only polite.
Drinking
It is bad form to drink too much. If you have alcohol keep it to two or three glasses - or whatever you can comfortably drink without feeling light-headed. It is bad manners and you will soon forget how to act in order to get a second date.
Goodbyes
When it comes to then end of your first date, be sure to make it clear that you would like a second date. Should you kiss them? Of course. A kiss is perfectly acceptable; just do not take it further or else you run the risk of never having another date with them.
If you learn how to act on a first date, the entire situation will feel less stressful. You will, therefore, have more confidence in yourself and will more easily remember the steps to have a successful first date.
