Go Back in Time to Ensure You Have a Great Date
It is often very common for people to experience a lot of anxiety right before a first date. It is natural to be nervous, but if you let your nerves freeze you up and you get overly serious and up-tight, that is a sure recipe for a failed date.
A good rule of thumb is to always keep things light-hearted and fun and steer away from overly serious conversations. As we become adults and we have to face more adult-like responsibilities, we often lose those child-like qualities which create fun and excitement in our lives. Instead of being spontaneous, we become overly calculated and planning, instead of looking for adventure, we assess the risk of a particular activity before trying it. This kind of careful, deliberate behavior might serve well in daily life, but it is an awful way to attract someone of the opposite sex.
The truth is that the qualities that are most attractive to a potential mate trigger such feelings as passion, excitement, and adventure. Those kinds of emotional feelings are triggered by such qualities as spontaneity, creativity, sense of humor, and playfulness- all qualities which are more prevalent amongst children than adults.
Adults are used to checklists and task-oriented thinking, which leads to a boring interview-style date, that while may be good for information gathering, is absolutely awful for inspiring romantic chemistry. Therefore, I urge everyone to think through the eyes of a child while on a date. That doesn't mean that you act immature or take the opportunity to try out your crudest jokes. What it means is to think "outside the box" for date ideas, do something different, be playful, and don't take things too seriously.
Here's the time to take out those old childhood games that were so fun years ago and use them again on your date. Yes, that could include anything from Twister to hide-and-go-seek to Marco Polo. Whatever. It doesn't matter. If this sounds crazy to you, I guarantee you that you and your date will have tons more fun and will "all of a sudden" discover you have tons of chemistry if you play a game of Twister rather than go for the cliched "So what do you do for a living?" dinner date conversations.
Remember, if you're having difficulty coming up with good date ideas, think back a little about the funnest games you played in your childhood. The first date is a perfect time to "go back to the future" and be a kid again. You'll thank me for it.
