Being Romantic - The Great Myth Demystified

What do you do when you're on a date and you want everything to go perfectly but suddenly you find yourself tongue tied and unsure of what to say or what to talk about? Firstly, be a good listener. Women so often complain that men just don't listen to them. So the first technique doesn't really involve you having to say anything. Let her talk. One of the most romantic things you can do is active listening. Ask her questions about herself, or about her plans for the future, or about her earliest or most favourite memory and listen to her response then ask more questions. She will be blown away. And this will get the conversation rolling.

Secondly, compliment her. Everyone, men and women like to be complimented. However be careful not to say cliched things about her hair or her eyes, women are so used to hearing these kind of empty words. Pay attention to detail and compliment her on subtle things. Admire in her the things that are not so obvious. compliment her on her sense of humour, something funny or interesting she said.

Thirdly, make her feel important to you by telling her what a wonderful effect she has had on you. For example "hearing you talk about Paris in such a passionate way has reignited within me a passion for traveling". Tell her that you want to be a better man because of her. She will be over the moon.

Another way of being romantic is by making her feel important and secure. Make a statement about your future together, make future plans. It does not have to be a life time commitment or anything heavy, in fact that would not go down well on a first date, but do make references like "every time I will see a picture of the Eiffel Tower I will think of you. This will create a strong connection between you.

And finally, be honest and sincere, otherwise everything you say will seem fake rather than romantic and she will pick up on this. Do not say things you don't mean, rather speak from the heart. Make her feel special by being romantic in this way and your efforts will not go unrewarded.
