Backyard Games For The Family

There are a lot of games that families can play together, but people do not seem to talk about them as much because they are more interested in video games today. For those who like the outdoors, however, there are many backyard games that people can play and enjoy. Some of these can be difficult for certain members of the family to play, however, because the rules are confusing or the athletic prowess that is needed is more than some individuals have. There are still games, though, that everyone can enjoy. One of these is the Cornhole game. Not everyone knows what this game is, but it is popular up north, and in some parts of the west, as well. In some places, they call it the bean bag game or the bean bag toss, but it is basically the same game. The only real difference is that the board itself is one foot shorter in the bean bag game - but some people who call it the Cornhole game also use the shorter board because it is easier to transport.

People put this game in the back of their truck or the trunk of their car, and they carry it around to the places where they gather with their friends and family, so that they can play. This can include birthdays, tailgating parties, graduation parties, family reunions, and a lot of other kinds of get-togethers that everyone can enjoy. Most of the Cornhole games, though, are enjoyed right at home in backyards throughout the country. People like to play these games, and the joy of the Cornhole game comes from the chance that everyone has to play it. It does not matter if people are young or old, fat or thin, short or tall, or any combination of these things. Even someone in a wheelchair or that had another disability could play the game. Even though it is simple, however, it is a lot of fun in the eyes of most individuals, and being able to play and enjoy it together is really what makes it special. Since there are so many other games to play, the Cornhole game can be included in the fun and this ensures that there will be at least one thing that everyone can do.

Playing the Cornhole game is simple. People can learn in just a few minutes, and the game is not difficult to set up. It uses a three foot by two foot board with a hole in it. The board is on an angle, and the object is to take small, weighted bags and throw them through the hole to score points. Bags that land on the board but do not go into the hole are also worth points - just not as many. The first person or team to get twenty-one points wins the game. Bags are filled with corn, with beans, or with hard plastic pellets, and made of a durable cloth. The boards are usually wooden, but they can be plastic as well. Since the game is so easy to set up and play, no one should have to be excluded from playing it, making it an activity that can work to bring families closer together.
