The Top 10 Human Highlight Reel Athletes of All Time
This list is dedicated to the greatest showstoppers in professional sports history. It doesn't matter how many championships they might have won. All that matters for this list is which athlete would you dedicate an hour long sportscenter highlight show to. Without further ado here is the list:
10) Dominique Wilkins - Its in his nickname "Human Highlight Reel". What more else do you need to know?
9) Ronnie Lott - One of the few defensive football players that you can dedicate an entire reel to. To call his hits vicious would be a gross understatement. If you went across the middle on this guy, you were going to be in a world of pain.
8) Ozzie Smith - He's not called the Wizard for no reason. He was all about the highlight. Whether it would be that little flip he did at the opening of a game or make some miraculous play at shortstop, he always wanted to get the fans excited.
7) Dr. J (Julius Erving) - The first guy to REALLY bring the game above the rim. How many iconic slam dunks does this guy have. Who could forget about that dunk over Michael Cooper as he covered his head. It was the perfect poster. Heck, it was a work of art.
6) Mark McGwire - Steroids, No steroids. It doesn't matter for this list. What does matter is seeing somebody hit a baseball over 500 ft on a consistent basis. It never gets tiring watching it.
5) Bo Jackson - The original freak of nature. He wasn't around for very long due to a career ending injury. But while he was playing he was unbelievable to watch both in football and baseball.
4) Randall Cunningham - He should be on this list just for the 1990 season alone. Actually, he deserves to be on this list for the 90+ yard TD pass he had against Buffalo that year.
3) Gale Sayers - It was like watching a ballerina in the middle of barbarians. He was so incredibly graceful and brought some real breathtaking moments in NFL History.
2) Michael Jordan - ESPN owes so much to the career of Michael Jordan that they should still be paying him royalties. If you watched a Chicago Bulls Highlight in the 80s and 90s you might have not realized that Jordan played with 4 teamates.
1) Barry Sanders - The only person that I would pay money to watch play. To put it in perspective, Thanksgiving isn't the same without Barry Sanders. I remember watching the Lions game at 12:30 every Thanksgiving just to see what Barry would do. Every time he touched the battle you always thought he was going to take it to the house. And he would do it in style.
