Maybe you've discovered that actually you're not too bad at putting. It's just that you keep hitting to the left or to the right of where you mean to. Kind of like slice on the green. And you keep trying to correct your stroke but whatever you do it doesn't seem to work. This is where a laser putting target can really help you.

These are a small device that you attach to the putter. It works as follows. You line up your shot and then tilt the shaft towards the hole. The pointer activates and if the laser makes a path towards the hole then you know that the club face is dead on to the ball.

Of course, this is assuming that you are not already making any corrections for the lie of the green, left and right.

These laser devices are great training aids. If you use them for a while then instead of developing a dependency on them, your body will use its own "muscle memory" and have recalibrated your stroke action.

Just remember, in most tournaments these are illegal. In fact, I wouldn't even use them to play against your friends because you will be seen as cheating or a bad golf player!

They are also very cheap. In this day and age, low powered lasers are very simple to manufacture and this is reflected in the price of one of these pointers.
