Christians Must Change The Statistics
Christians, you aren"t going to like these statistics.
A report in 2006 by the Josephson Institute on Ethics revealed that 60 percent of American secular youth admitted to recently cheating on a test, 62 percent had lied to a teacher, and 82 percent had lied to a parent.
Past reports have given rise to something even more alarming. They have found that there was almost no difference between these statistics and the statistics among young "professing Christians." Can that be true? Unfortunately, these results confirm the fears that our churches may be filled with unsaved people. These are young people who have not yet given their lives to Christ.
What can we do? We must pray for our churches, and see them as mission fields. We need to not only spread the gospel to those in far away countries, but also to the people sitting only a few feet away on Sunday morning.
We also need to find ways to get the Word of God into their hearts and minds. Here are three ideas to help you in the mission field right around you:
1. Start with your own kids or grandkids if you have them. Talk to those children about their faith. Make sure they are spending time daily reading the Bible.
2. Have a small group bible study in your home and invite some families in your church that you may not know very well. Just remember: many people are more likely to attend a bible study in your home if invited directly by the host.
3. Find some fun gospel tracts to hand out to kids you know. Ask them to give one to a friend. If you don"t have tracts, try using Memory Cross cards. They are fun to use and hard to refuse!
There is no reason that Christian children should be unfortunate statistics of today"s corrupt society. Start changing the world one heart at a time!
