US Support of Feudal Monarchs
SUPPORTING FEUDAL MONARCHS: Is the fact that supposed democratic and free nations with the power to enforce their will do things which victimize and abuse people all over the world of concern to you? Is the fact that large segments of the citizens inside countries like the United States are suffering under oppression and being victimized? I can make a case for a caste system existing in England and its protectorates as well as the on-going and expanding slave trade in countries like Canada. It does not require an official document naming a human as a slave for slavery to exist. The trade in human serfdom, indentured illegals and what amounts to slavery includes all manner of immoral and illegal acts against the most vulnerable among us.
The Democrats Best Bet: Gore-Richardson
The Democratic primary will more than likely result in a fractured party and no clear winner going into their Quadrennial confab. The candidates will have beaten up on each other to no avail, and critics will cite Barack Obama"s inexperience, and Hillary Clinton"s questionable electability. Moreover, John Edwards and others-no, not the name of a Seattle-based grunge band-will further fragment the voting. Leave it to Academy Award winner, and the former Vice President Albert A. Gore to ride to the rescue. -"The man who used to be the next president of the United States, " has been sounding more and more like a candidate.
How Both The Right And Left Are Missing God In Politics
As you probably have not come across my writings before as I have never posted in this subject before let me give you some insight into myself as a Christian firstly so you can get a handle on what is making me up and why I might say some of the things I am going to say in the article below. Joel a prophet in the Bible prophesied/predicted that in the last days that men would see visions and prophesy. I have told people things about themselves when the people were unknown to me and brought people a personal relevant message from God in person and via the net on hundreds of occasions in the past few years.
Budget 2007 - My Stupid View
How good was the Budget-2007 presented yesterday by Mr. P Chidambaram? This was the question that was running all over the place yesterday. The final verdict came down to a great Thumbs Down to the Finance Minister. The main reason for these thumbs down from the middle class is the fact that there was no tax exemption method added. The media is more concerned with the lack of Reforms and the slight increase in Taxation on the BPO and IT industry. This puts in effect the core question about Budget - Any budget which does not decrease my Tax Burden is a bad budget? The majority answer seems to be a rousing YES to this question.
Today s Value of the Dollar
Everything seems to revolve around money in today's society. How much you earn, what kind of portfolio do you have, and what is your bottom line permeate conversations, news stories, and TV and radio broad- casts. It isn't only individuals who spend money or even cor- porations and stores. Our government spends money that is collected from working men/women and most is earmarked for certain programs, departments, or projects, not to mention the salaries paid to government officials from the White House to the people who do the work behind the scenes - the cooks, cleaning personnel and auxiliary staff.
Iran - The Unwinnable War, with Unachievable Aims and Unbelievable Consequences
Writing about the US becomes more like Alice in Wonderland everyday. Everything is topsy-turvy and nothing follows the usual laws of international relations any more. The world"s greatest unipolar superpower is now powerless. It has now become a victim of its own failures. It is trapped in a conundrum, where it is forced to imagine the impossible and do the irrational. It must dig itself in deeper, in the vain hope of coming out the other side of nowhere. Now, like a great fireworks display before the end of the carnival, the US looks increasingly set to launch one last riotous act of its own futility and impotency, in an air and sea bombardment of Iran.
The Dilemma of Leadership vs. Representation in Democracies
How far should the elected representatives of the people in a democracy go along with the popular choices and what is commonly expressed as the "voice of the people"? The question is whether the duly elected representatives of the people are a collection of rubber-stamp holders, mandated to approve the results of the latest public-opinion survey? If elected deputies have no other obligation but to vote in accordance with whatever the public wants at a specific point in time, then wouldn't it be cheaper and more reliable to have computers deliver that service? In such a devil's advocate scenario, the public can regularly visit the voting booths placed in central locations in every city.
Elections by Random Lottery? A Polemic for Sortition
In a true democracy where the Parliament truly (that is, in a "statistically correct" manner) represents the people, shouldn't the elections be carried out by random lottery? Isn't that the way mathematicians draw a correct sample from any statistical "population"? Isn't that the way juries are selected in American courts (although I am aware of the mind-bending machinations that lurk below the orderly surface of the jury-selection process). As a matter of fact, once upon a time, about 2, 500 years ago, that's how elections were carried out in ancient Greece. Everybody could not vote, that's one technical detail we have to disclose obviously.
Middle East The Big Picture
On the Middle East: Jan 2007: A good friend of mine lives in Dubai. He explained that, even today, no arab school -not even in Jordan or Egypt- teaches that Israel is a country. They all refuse to even reckognize it. Isn't it strange that Sweden/EU allows Mosques but not even Saudi Arabia allows ANY Christian churches? Isn't it strange that people said Japan could never be a democracy, haven't learned the lesson; now instead say that Iraq can never be a democracy? Isn't it strange that people failed to learn the lessons from Hitler and thus fail to see the real threat that Iran repeats - even in public - that Israel should be wiped from the face of the earth?
Moderates: Unite and Form a Third Party
In politics, a moderate is an individual who holds the middle position between those generally classified as being right-wing or conservative and those seen as left-wing or liberal. Currently, there are a significant number of members in both houses of Congress that can be classified as moderates. Whether they are affiliated with the Republican Party or the Democratic Party, their ideals and objectives tie them closer to one another than their own party affiliation. The moderation or movement to a more centrist approach by these members, has become more apparent in the wake of 911 and the war in Iraq;
