Maybe you actually think about something fearful, but what does fear do to you without any conscious thought? I have been pondering these questions recently because I hear the fear in so many people"s voices. Wherever I go and talk with folks, I run into unexpected emotion about terrorism, unfamiliar religions, school safety, child molesters, etc. My response to these emotionally charged thoughts is to wonder why people are so afraid.

The documentary, Billy Strayhorn: Lush Life, chronicles his experiences and the groundbreaking musical compositions he created. The ninety-minute film weaves together a rich tapestry of interviews, archival footage and musical performances, showing his triumphs and disappointments as a gay African-American composer. The main focus of the film is Billy Strayhorn"s partnership with Duke Ellington, a famous jazz composer and musician. Through interviews with Strayhorn"s friends and colleagues, filmmaker Robert Levi reveals that Strayhorn wrote many popular songs for Ellington but received very little credit.

The media is simply repeating this misnomer and fueling the flames of moral argument. Yes, these in-vitro cells are within the first two-month stage of development that is covered by the term "embryonic"; however, these fertilized eggs are are not going to develop into embryos until after conception occurs. Conception can only occur in a uterus, not in a laboratory. There are a number of better choices for terminology when referring to undifferentiated stem cells.
McGreevey s Divorce Heats Up
Former New Jersey Governor James E. McGreevey filed for divorce from Dina Matos McGreevey. Married for over six years, Matos McGreevey stood beside her husband as he made his infamous announcement two years ago that he is a "gay America" amidst a scandal involving his extramarital affair with the man he appointed his homeland security advisor. Separated since that time, McGreevey filed for divorce in Union County on February 5, 2007. It is not known at this time what, if any, arrangements have been agreed upon regarding custody or child support of the couple"s 5-year-old daughter, Jacqueline.

Is it really helping understanding or, could the annual nature of it, like a cuckoo in a clock, and its exclusive label rob it of its validity and significance? As one who has spent the last 14 years promoting multiculturalism from the rooftops in the UK, through the only book on the subject in Europe, and two annual national diversity awards, I have been pretty saddened to hear government ministers and others trumpeting that 'multiculturalism isn't working' or we 'cannot celebrate diversity because it encourages difference' and keeps us separate.
