Enduring Peace

Enduring peace is the ultimate goal of any free society. It cannot be replaced successfully by anything and should be the most important objective to defend to someone who truly relishes it. Along with the pursuit and preservation of peace, should be the unwavering stance of defending the same at any cost. Peace must at all times be defended against those who choose to propagate fear and intolerance. Adversaries to tranquility should have no relief from the fear of being defeated militarily by peace loving societies and cultures. Anyone who stands in the face of harmony never deserves the opportunity to spread to others the radical elements of division and superiority that drives one to begin conflict.

What should terrify any peace loving society is when their citizenry would rather allow the true enemies of peace to continue their attacks rather than defeat an obvious opponent to amity. Anyone who opposes the defeat of such individuals is as much of an obstacle to the goal of lasting serenity as are those who proliferate hate against peace loving countries. War is never something chosen by free and peaceful countries, it is something that is essential for the continuation of the ideals of equality and independence. Free and peace loving countries don"t attack other countries without reason or for the enjoyment of its leaders. Conflicts come as a result of the lack of tolerance for the defilement of the things held most dear in these nations. No nation can survive the wishes and hopes of destruction from their rivals by giving into their demands. How does security come by showing weakness to your enemies? No war has truly reached a peaceful, lasting resolution by dialogue. It takes the absolute defeat and devastation of your enemies to ensure that the current conflict won"t rear its head again months or years from now. Would our struggle for independence have ended as it did if rather than seeking to fight off the British, we tried to win by offering some parts of the northeast? After being given one or two colonies why would the British not continue the fight to recapture the others? Showing that you are unwilling to do what is needed to be successful in war, gives more support to your enemies than cutting them a check.

When conflicts come they should be for the absolute defeat of your rivals in as little time as possible. Using every weapon at your disposal to utterly crush the adversaries of tranquility shows the world what happens to those who wish to interrupt the peace. Prolonged wars cause unnecessary resentment between countries, making the resolution to the initial problem that much more difficult to secure. To alleviate internal opposition to such a fight, responsible nations should have definite guidelines for the initiation of hostilities based upon the core principles of the nation. As an example, logically a free and peace loving society should feel obligated to defend those ideals around the world at any cost, ruthlessly putting down any force ready to position itself in opposition to those beliefs. With statutes of this sort in place no country could be accused by its own citizens of fighting a "war of choice".

It is shameful the place in the world that our country now occupies. The strongest and most advanced nation is not feared and has no problem investing in countries that still refuse to give there citizens liberty. America should be the beacon and defender of freedom worldwide. We should use our strength and power to bring freedom and peace to people of other countries. No nation ready to invest in the experiment of freedom should have any doubt that the most powerful country on earth supports them. This nation should be ready, willing, and able to defend itself and any other free country against any threat to the collective freedom. Instead, when rivals daily state their intentions to kill us or an ally, we sit and watch as if paralyzed by fear. Rather than taking advantage of such an opportunity to exhibit to the world our determination to live peacefully and free, we fight each other on the worth of continuing to exist.
