The Rudimentary Elements of Website Development

Orange County, California is a growing business center that provides employment for thousands of people and one of the fastest growing fields in Orange County is web development. Beginning in the mid-1990s, web building has been one of the fastest expanding industries in the nation. In 1995 there were fewer than 1,000 web development companies in California, but by 2005 there were over 30,000 such companies.

The web development industry is predicted to grow over 20% by 2010. The growth of this industry is being pushed by large businesses looking to sell products and services to their customers and to computerize business work flow, as well as the expansion of many small web design companies.

So what is web development? Generally, it is a sweeping term for any activities related to developing a web site for the World Wide Web or an intranet.

This can include e-commerce business, web design, web content, client-side/server-side coding, and web server configuration. However, among web designers, it generally refers only to the non-design aspects of creating web sites, e.g. writing markup and coding. It can span developing the simplest static single page of plain text to the most complex web-based internet applications, electronic businesses, or social network services.

For larger businesses and organizations, web design teams can include hundreds of staff (web developers). Less complex businesses may only require one permanent or contracting webmaster, or secondary assignment to similar job positions such as a graphic designer and/or Information systems technician. Web development may be a collaborative project between departments as opposed to the responsibility of a designated department.
