The Rules of Web Promotion - Comply or Die

So you are hoping to make money from the internet, you are hoping to break into that all important top five of the search engine rankings for your main keywords, so how should you go about achieving this? Well are you aware of all of the rules to do with web promotion? Do you abide by these web promotion rules? It is simply a case of comply or die. You may not agree with all of the rules and guidelines that are in place. However the search engines are well within their rights to choose to do whatever they want with the way they rank their results, it is after all their search engine.

I like to read the thoughts of other webmasters who post on the various search engine optimisation forums. Many of these webmasters complain that their site or sites have received some form of penalty at the hands of search engines like Google. Were you selling links or participating in excessive link exchanges other webmasters ask them? Well yes but the no follow rule is not fair the person argues. It may not be fair but it is the guidelines, stop moaning you broke their rules. If you can not do the time, do not do the crime.

Other webmasters complain about the duplicate content penalty, another rule that is quite commonly talked about in these SEO forums. I really feel that the majority of webmasters should spend more time reading up on the guidelines and rules of the major search engines.

Content is often seen as king but duplicate content is going to gain you absolutely nothing, nor should it.

Follow simple rules, ensure that all of the content that is included on your website is original and unique. Do not sell or buy links, and do not participate in excessive link exchange programs or schemes.

As well as this I would advise people to regularly add fresh, unique content to their site and to attempt to gain quality one-way backward links pointing to their site.

If you follow the rules and guidelines you will not go far wrong.
