The basics of web site promotion include simple tasks of advertising and marketing. Search engine optimization, page rankings, having the perfect key words throughout your page. This is the best way to get your page seen by searches.
Use the most simply, words used most often throughout your page and use the incorrect spelling of words (this does provide searches with your site). Use banner ads to promote your site. These flashing Internet "billboards" are a great form of advertising. They can be placed on other websites and gain your site exposure by those you didn"t think of. Build a list! Build a list! Let me say again, BUILD A LIST! This provides the best tool for advertising.
Without your list who do advertise to? Build a list! This is the basic of web site promotion in that without your list none of these other tools are going to help you! List building is essential in marketing. It is the only way to fully grasp who to promote your business to, who is interested in what you are offering and who can direct you to other potential customers and clients. Forming online relations with companies, people, networks that can provide you all of these will probably be the single best investment you make in your website. And once you think you are done, start over. You list is a continuous process it is never complete!
