Affiliate Marketing - How to Use SEO to Increase Profits
There is nothing better than free traffic, and there is no better source of free traffic than search engines. With proper SEO you can have a never ending flow of free traffic to your AdSense or affiliate sites. In this article I will explain the importance of SEO and the application of it.
SEO stands for "Search Engine Optimization". If your website is optimized for search engines, you will be listed highly for specific keywords and receive a lot of traffic as a result. This free traffic equals more sales for your affiliate site or more ad clicks on your AdSense site.
To SEO your site you have to know exactly what keywords you would like to be listed for. Ideally, you want keywords that get several daily searches and have very little competition. There are several free tools to do keyword research. Google offers many tools along with yahoo and word tracker. I usually look for words that get at least 100 searches a day and have less than 30,000 pages of competition. Do not get discouraged, there are tons of keywords like that.
After I choose my keywords I can plan my site. Example: The keyword I have chosen is "guitar online lessons". This keyword gets about 70 searches a day and has only 6,000 pages of competition. I can take that easily!

In the title I would include my main keywords "Guitar Online Lessons". This is good because the title is one of the most important things in SEO. Another thing to think about is keyword density. How many times does your keyword need to appear? Your keyword density needs to be around 2% to 5%, anymore than that and you will be listed low. I would put the keyword in the title and multiple times in the introduction paragraph. Then I would sprinkle it in the content until I reached my target density.
Links can affect your SEO too. The more links you have coming to your site, the more important search engines will think you are. There are many ways to get links. You can write articles like this one with a link to your site, have a link to your site in your signature on forums, but never buy links from a link farm. That does not work!
After your site is optimized you just have to submit to the search engines. They will index it and you will show up in their results in a few weeks. In a few cases it takes a little longer. After you claim your place in the search engines, you will really start seeing money coming in.
