SEO -- Playing By A Different But Highly Effective Rule
There's a fundamental point most folks miss as they try to win the search engine wars: They try to trick the engines into giving them a high ranking. I'll show you why this is a wrong strategy and also share a different but highly effective one...
Search engines thrive or fade on the quality of their search results. If you've been online for long enough you'll remember when Altavista was doing just fine. Why did it fade? Another search engine came with better search results -- Period!
Therefore, every search engine out there today knows what their fate would be if the quality of their search results are out-classed by another. So, they'll do all within their power to get the best search results possible.
Why should this arise in this discourse?
If you win by playing tricks, you're hurting the search engines because you're downgrading the quality of their results. When they find out, they'll hurt you badly by banning your site or delisting you. So, this cannot be a viable strategy.
Search engines want the best content there is for each search query. Therefore, you have to ensure that each page on your site delivers high value content for the keyword or phrase targeted. However, you can have the best content for a keyword and not even be listed.
This means you have to do certain things to get found. If you don't do them you won't get found. So here's the rule that will keep doing you good for as long as you want traffic from search engines...
1. Build high value content that are relevant to the keywords you target.
2. Make sure you take all the necessary steps to ensure the major SE's know your stuff exists.
3. Build high quality links using both strategies that are working today and will keep working for years to come.
4. Rinse and repeat.
