Search Engine Optimization: Too Much Information, Not Enough Know How
In the late 1990's Al Gore referred to the Internet as the Information Superhighway. It is a great metaphor.
Good Information can be a powerful thing. If it leads to action. However when information is not organized and does not lead to personal action it is pretty worthless.
Often times in life.... less is more.
Many students that I consult with have too much information and not enough know how.
Know how is my way of saying that you have done something with the data you received. Ideally the information should empower you.
Taking action is the solution to information overload and putting you squarely on the Know How Expressway.
Stop and think about all the things that some people think they have to learn about to be effective online.
HTML
Database Programming
Web Hosting
Blogging
Audio Editing
Video Creation
Merchant Accounts
Shopping Carts
List Building
Co-Registration
Search Engine Optimization
Joint Ventures
Copywriting
Event Management
Press Releases
Article Marketing
Etc.
Let me tell you a little secret. Although I study a lot. I follow a little formula with anything that I read related to marketing online.
Read it.
Apply It.
Study the Results.
Just reading something is not going to get you anywhere. If I read it and don't understand it, or don't like it...I hire someone else to do it for me.
One of the biggest problems that I attribute directly to our educational system is that people with fine educations complicate the simplest of activities.
Here is a simple formula.
a) Put up a web page
b) Drive traffic to it
c) Sell something
d) Monitor you conversions
If this EXPERIMENT works don't do anything. Repeat. Repeat. Repeat. If this experiment does not work learn something from it.
Is it your web page?
Is it your traffic?
Is it your offer?
Buying the next new fangled course, software or technodoodadd will not change the above sequence one iota.
There is a ton of information around. What are you doing to turn that information into KNOWLEDGE?
There is no failure only feedback.
May the force be with you.
Feed The Spiders.
