Don t Get Sucked in by False Promises
You're probably like the rest of us. You have "the dream" - to be able to make money from home, quit your job, tell the boss where to go, etc. It looks easy. And with all the "help" you'll receive, how could you go wrong? I'm talking ad after ad touting one fabulous program after another. And they're all FREE!!!
My all time favorite ad is this: sign up for free, refer no one, let someone else build your downline for you and you can expect $10,000 a month. Where do I sign up? Does this look just a little fishy to anyone else out there? No money invested, absolutely no effort and you're gonna get paid more than your full time job? If you're not willing to put some skin in the game, why would they even want you? What value could you possibly bring?
All I know is that if you're going to have a successful internet business you need to roll up your sleeves. It's a lot of hard work, but hard work that will pay off big. And as far as being able to start a business with no money - well, how far do you think you can get? While it's true you can find a lot of free resources out there, your online business will have some expenses, though nothing like a traditional brick and mortar business.
Let's talk about how to go about choosing an online business opportunity.
Be sure to do your due diligence. Don't just take that sales copy at its word. Find some other affiliates or distributors of the company and talk to them. See if they've gotten everything they've been promised. Ask if they're making the amount of money they thought they'd make and if their monthly expenses are reasonable.
Look at the product. Is it in demand? How is it priced compared to similar products? What's the competition doing?
Ask if the company has an outline or a blueprint to follow for setting up the business. Do they have a marketing plan that is simple and easy for the ordinary person to understand. Remember, you'll be trying to recruit others into your business and the people on the internet are diverse. Some are retired, some don't have much experience with computers, others don't speak English as a first language.
Find out if they have a company forum or chat room to go to for questions and problems. This is an invaluable service. Perhaps if the company doesn't supply one, some of the distributors may have set one up on their own. It's a great way to learn new marketing tips, find out what's working and what's not. It's also great for networking. It's imperative to have friends online.
So to recap, the key components of a good online business are: a good product that is in demand and is priced fairly, a sound company that treats its affiliates well. A guideline or blueprint to follow in setting up the business and performing daily tasks is great to have. And last, a support system is critical. This could be the difference between success and failure.
Find a company with these key components and you've got a winner! Best of luck to you.
