About Extreme Content Sites
When talking about an extreme content site what really is it?
An extreme content site is a site that has large numbers of pages but usually any site that has over 1,000 pages would classify as an extreme content site. Some sites would have hundreds of thousands of pages.
What is the purpose of an extreme content site?
The exact purpose is to get traffic. The more pages result in a huge saturation at the search engine level.
Imagine having a ten page niche site. Your ten pages have only ten chances to be listed some where in the search engine's ranking. Now interject a site with thousands of pages. The chances of having a higher rating and ratings within the top ten are much greater. This means that some of the pages may be close to the top of a specific keyword.
Only a few of the pages on any site will be rated within the top 10 even on an extreme content site but the chances of receiving a steady stream of traffic with your site will be much better and you ability to direct the visitor to a monetized page through links and those pesky pop ups and unders (BTW - I hate pesky pop ups and unders but I guess they serve a purpose in the whole scheme of Internet marketing.) You can also monetize the site with such things as Google Adsense but remember that if a person clicks on one of these ads they will be moved from your site to somewhere else and the possibility to get them back is much lower this can be an issue if you have your own products you are trying to sell.
Keeping track of such a site can be a challenge because it requires good organization.
What do you put on these huge sites?
- Articles - Then Articles and again Articles. It seems that SEO's want content rich sites and having an article peppered with keywords doesn't hurt but remember if you use your keyword too many times within the article it can be considered Keyword Spam (bad).
- Blogs - Try writing an original article a couple of times a week and adding your content this way. Why only a couple of times a week? Article burn out. Some sites go gang busters the first few months and then no articles for weeks if not months. Why? The person running the blog ran out of things to say or think up.
- Forums - This is a great way to get content on a site since people love to talk, vent and have a place to do it.
- Polls - When an election is looming note how many polls there are most enjoy to express their opinion so start a poll on your site even if it is a multiple choice poll.
To put up a monster site, first put up the basic framework you are going to use. Second don't do it all in one short period of time. Search engines like to see new content and will be back for it and too if you do it all at once you may burn out. So be like a turtle slow and steady as we go.
For example if you start with a 15 page site and continue to add say 35 pages a month within a period of time you will have a extreme content site.
But I want to start like a ball of fire but what happens to a ball of fire without fuel. It burns out. So where can you get that fuel? From article sites since many have made articles that could fit into your site.
