Internet Marketing - Add More Sense Of Community To Your Site For Your Success

If your website is all about you telling them what you think then you're certainly not taking advantage of all that's available to increase your online presence.

If you do all by yourself (I mean create all the content), then you are certainly doing more work than you should be doing. You have to give room for user-generated content. That will make your work a lot easier. But furthermore, it will increase your repeat and referral visits.

So why work harder for less?

Look at a site like Youtube. Look at a site like Myspace. What do these two have in common? They are highly trafficked sites and their content is user-generated. Now, if you think this is just a new phenomenom, look at good old Ebay.

Who writes the listings, who writes the description, who does everything apart from take the fees? You'll do well to enlist your visitors as part of your workforce. They are willing to work so let them work to their heart's content. Here are few places to start...

1) If you have the resources and/or the time, start a forum that is tightly focused on your site's theme. Make sure it is moderated. An unmoderated site is worse than none.

2) Add comment ability to your web pages. This will give your readers an opportunity to add their own thoughts. And guess what? You'll likely revisit a page where you posted a comment to see reactions from others.

3) If you can't add comment ability, use a form to capture their responses and then post them. It will only mean more work but it's a good place to start.

4) If it makes sense, have a contest that relates to your theme. Let your visitors determine who wins. This will guarantee many repeat visits and sales if you handle it creatively.

These are just teasers that will help you make them come back for more. And believe me, if most of your visitors return again and again, you have a successful site.
