The Whys And Hows To Choosing Reward Programs
Do you shop online? If you do, why not "shop" for an online rewarding mega-store? By being a member, you are rewarded for buying things through them. The offers that are usually available from the direct merchant, but with this, you earn rewards in return for what you buy which is an additional bonus. It is like getting a fridge that comes with a microwave oven as a free gift.
Although these programs are free and you can join as many as you want but it is not a very good idea to hop on all that blinks on your computer screen. You don't want your mailbox to be flooded with emails and - quite likely duplicates as most companies spread their offers to most of these reward sites, especially if they are from the same country. You may lose track and instead of consolidating your points at one place, you spread your "investments" around and get no return from any of them. Here are some pointers to help you make your choice.
1. Choose one that can convert to cash as reward.
Some reward programs only allow you to redeem your points by "spending your points". This only encourages you to spend more. You may end up piling unnecessary things in your house by redeeming something that you thought you need but not really so after. Cash is the only thing that will increase your income. So check in the reward list that points can be converted to cold hard cash.
2. Choose one from your resident country.
With reward programs from your resident country, you are more likely to associate better with the products. If you redeem rewards, you are more certain to redeem products that are applicable and relevant to you. If your reward program is from overseas, they usually pay you with checks. There will be a lapse between sending and receiving and the other matter to consider is if you may incur overseas cheque depositing and clearance fee charges depending on your financial situation.
3. Choose one that offers Direct Debiting.
With direct debiting such as Paypal, the money goes direct to your bank account, secured and instant. This is the most convenient way to get paid and you do not have to worry about paying extra charges.
4. Choose one that offers more than just online shopping
If rewards are only given for shopping, points accumulation will take a long time unless you are a frequent shopper. You have to be very "loyal" to see your rewards coming back. There are many that offer more things, such as reading emails, completing surveys and clicking web pages. This does not only increase your points, contributing to your early return paycheck, it increases the fun as well.
You can sign up as many as you like but choose one or two and be "loyal". There is no better way that this to put in extra dollar back into your pocket.
