How To Perform Your Marketing By Email

With an increasing amount of companies and businesses moving into email marketing, it no longer is considered as a new strategy in the industry anymore. Marketing by email allows companies and individuals to reach a broad base of prospects easily and cheaply. Done right, it would be able to improve your sales results dramatically.

However, it seems then when we mention about the topic of email marketing, or the use of bulk email lists to promote one's product, many people misunderstand it as email spamming. They relate email marketing with flooding a person's mailbox with countless of emails about their product. There is a clear difference between email marketing and spamming. The proper method of email marketing is actually to have a prospect optin your email list. This way, the prospect is actually giving you permission to email them in future. Spamming works differently in the sense that the person did not opt-in to any list nor agreed to be emailed any offers or material, but nonetheless still gets emailed.

With all that said, how then do you perform your own email marketing strategy without all these misconceptions? First, you have to create your own autoresponders which would act as the information-laden mails that would be sent to your clients. By using web based software such as Aweber, catalogue different topics and subjects that cater to various groups of people but keep it to the same general topic and something that you can relate to your own products.

Next, you should aim to create as many different versions of these autoresponders if possible; also come up with follow up emails for each autoresponder ensuring that it would last up to several months or even up to a year. Studies have shown that the average customer would not budge and purchase your item until they have been advertised to at least 7 times. 7 times is a lot of advertising to do and the only way you can do that without first scaring them off is making them interested in what you have to offer. Email marketing is thus wonderful in accomplishing this task; as you can continually update them with new information while at the same time advertise to them in subtle ways.

Another important thing to take note is for you to give your potential customers the choice of wanting to be a part of your email list. Forcing or tricking people into subscribing your email list is deemed unprofessional and may leave a bad impression on that particular customer and they may become wary of what you want to offer to them. There are 2 ways of doing this, either have a single opt in system or have a double opt in system.

For the single opt in system, it would have a faster rate of drawing people in to your mail list, however it may not be as 'clean' as the one by the double opt in system. Some people may randomly use any email or username to 'spam' your email list and that would not be detected if you use a single opt in, since once they clicked accept, they are straight away recorded into your database. However, for the double opt in, the user has to reconfirm their registration through a confirmation email, thus reducing the chance of spam as the registrations are in a way more filtered.

Basically, that is all that you have to do to create an email marketing strategy, just bear in mind to constantly keep in contact with your customers. Feedback and communication that flows both ways are the greatest way to ensure that your email marketing strategy would not fail. Through this, you will soon see an increase in your customer base as well as the profits inflow you receive.
