Email Rebel - a Comprehensive Course with One Major Caveat
While far from a new concept, email marketing is often either underused or misused by many companies. When used correctly, however, it has the potential to greatly reduce marketing costs and increase sales.
In April 2008, a content-rich course and software package called Email Rebel was released by a man whose nickname is Rappin' Matt. Admittedly, both the course and author names sound a bit unprofessional, but in terms of the material, nothing could be further from the truth.
The course consists of seven training manuals, 11 exclusive audio interviews with industry professionals, six in-depth video tutorials, and three proprietary software programs designed to increase your email marketing productivity.
Among the topics covered are how to plan your email marketing strategy for maximum profits, how to create a "buying atmosphere" that will transform leads into customers, mistakes to avoid when marketing with email, and much more.
Typically, bonus materials are offered for online marketing courses of this nature. However, the creator of Email Rebel has refused to provide bonuses. In his sales letter, he states:
"I know lots of marketers like to add value to their courses by throwing in a lot of bonuses, but these things are usually crap no one wants anyway. They just 'pad out' the course...I've put everything I've got into this course, so frankly there are no bonuses left for me to give!" (Source: emailrebel.com/main.html)
While I agree with the author about the low quality of many bonuses, I believe that his course could benefit from bonuses that are related to traffic generation and list building. The Email Rebel course assumes that you're skilled in these matters, yet it's marketing material clearly targets inexperienced Internet marketers who are dying to know how to get traffic to their sites so that they can build a subscriber base from which to profit via email marketing. Therefore, in my opinion, the course will be useless to "newbies" until they get traffic and list building experience under their belts.
To his credit -- or rather, the interviewee's credit -- there is one audio interview in the course that covers getting traffic via pay-per-click (PPC) advertising, but PPC is a complicated and often expensive way to get leads, so this will not be an option for many small businesses.
If you decide that Email Rebel would help your business grow, but you can't justify the investment because you don't have sufficient traffic or a list, then I suggest that you look for Email Rebel bonus offers that aim to fill that void. As stated, the author himself is not offering any bonuses, but various affiliates will be offering bonus materials if you purchase from them, as opposed to directly from the author.
Overall, Email Rebel is a worthwhile investment. The only major caveat, in my opinion, is that in order to profit from the techniques described in the course, you must already have the knowledge and skills to generate traffic and build a subscriber base.
