A Couple of Super Affiliate Secrets

There's a whole bunch of money to be made from other people's products, it's true. Whether you're getting visitors through adwords or free search engine traffic, the task remains to convert those visitors into buyers. It ain't as easy as just flinging traffic at a page and hoping it converts, true super affiliates know how convince the casual surfer to make a purchase. So, how to go about this...

Don't use banners or flashy graphics! No doubt your affiliate program of choice will provide you with some nice animated graphics to plaster on your site and there's no doubt that these are useful - if only for illustrative purposes.

You see, the real secret is to provide your visitor with informative text that also has a call to action. Fine, if the banner has a powerful call to action, use it. These days however, surfers eyes are trained to avert themselves from anything that may seem like advertising - banner overkill!

Instead, you should try to pre-sell the product. Start off with a story about a problem you have had i.e. if you had a site about dogs you might write "It was Saturday morning and my dog Nellie decided to walk in the back door spreading dirt and mud everywhere!"

Then you need, to seamlessly segue the your problem (in this case a dirty dog) to a solution at the end of the story. Finish your pre-sell with a simple "for more info visit..." and then insert the name of your affiliate product's website (in this case some sort of super dog cleaning device).

Don't sell to people straight away, lead them comfortably toward the solution, arouse their interest and then close with a call to action.

Also, let's not forget targeting. If you have an ad for a dog cleaning product on a page about cats, well, it isn't gonna sell. Make sure your products are laser targeted to the content on your page. Sounds obvious but so few people actually seem to do this.
