Effectively Avoiding Yeast Infections

Candidiasis, also known as a yeast infection, is a common disorder found in people across the world. It is commonly associated with women, but affects both men and women of all ages and races and grows more prevalent every day. This is largely because the fungus that causes yeast infections, known as Candida albicans, grows more resistant with every person"s attempt to control it by having some of it survive the treatment that is administered and coming back more resilient than ever. Candida albicans are naturally found on the skin, in the intestinal area, and on the genitalia. When conditions allow, it will develop from a yeast form into a mold form. This is when the symptoms of Candidiasis appear and begin to make its carrier irritated and uncomfortable. Though an outbreak of Candidiasis can be irritating and sometimes painful, it is usually not permanently harmful. If left untreated, however, a yeast infection can become a chronic or recurring case, which can then cause serious damage to the body.

There are many factors that can cause an outbreak of Candidiasis. One of the most common causes is if the person has recently used antibiotics. Antibiotics are used to kill bacteria in the body. Unfortunately, they also kill bacteria that help fight off infection and disease that are found in the gut. The weakened immune system is then susceptible to a yeast infection. There are a lot of things that can weaken the immune system. The use of spermicides, douches, and other feminine hygiene products can change the ph level in the vagina and cause an infection. Also, if someone has a weakened immune system from illness or a sexually transmitted disease they are more likely to become infected.

Avoiding a yeast infection is about controlling the environment around the body so that it is able to stay dry. Avoid douching and using feminine products like wipes or sprays. Avoid bubble baths and soaking in soapy water as it can alter the ph in the vagina. If you wear tight clothes with nylon pantyhose or other similar non-breathable materials, try alternating them with loose fitting clothing and cotton underwear. Cotton is a more breathable fabric and will allow the body to stay drier. If you go swimming or participate in strenuous activities that involve heavy perspiration, it is important to change into dry clothes as soon as possible. During sexual intercourse, use a condom for extra protection and also to avoid spreading a yeast infection to your partner.

Avoiding a yeast infection is as easy as being careful about someone"s surroundings. With a little caution exercised, no one has to suffer through a Candidiasis breakout. If you do get an infection, there are a number of cures available for purchase or a variety of household and natural treatments as well. With a little research you"ll be able to find the right treatment for yourself. You owe it to yourself and others to treat and prevent Candida albicans outbreaks for your own health and society"s health as well.
