Quick Weight Loss in Time For Your Wedding Or Other Special Events in Your Life

People are becoming increasingly overweight and obese. If you have a wedding or other special event in your life, now is the time to act on losing those extra pounds. There are hundreds of diets suggested for weight loss. Pills, supplements and even surgery are options for weight loss. Research has shown more and more negative effects on health and well being. Let's face it, being over weight or obese is not much fun and can take years off of your life expectancy.

The medications used for weight loss work in a variety of ways. Some are designed to decreased appetite. Other medication is used to decrease fat absorption. While these medications may be helpful for some individuals, they have side effects and do not provide change necessary to maintain weight loss.

Surgery for weight loss is called bariatric surgery. There are several types of surgeries available to chose from. These include stomach stapling, banding and balloon placement.

While bariatric surgery is becoming increasingly common, it does have a considerable amount of risk involved as does any surgical procedure. Since obese individuals heal more slowly than normal weight people the risk of complications becomes even greater. To qualify for surgery individuals have to be morbidly obese and have documented weight related health problems. Weight loss surgery while successful for some, is clearly not indicated for the majority of people who want to lose weight.

The amount of diets created for weight loss is amazing. Diets may limit types of food consumed, times food is consumed and/or combinations of foods consumed. Restricted calorie diets have been used for years as well. There are also a variety of foods and beverages which have been touted as having weight loss properties. A large number of best selling books have been diet plans such as the Atkins Diet, Hollywood Diet, Beach Diet, Men's Health Diet, Pritkens Diet to name a few. While all these diets are described as highly successful, the percentage of people achieving success is unknown. The sad reality of fad diets is that even when individuals lose weight on fad diets they usually can't maintain the weight loss over time.

It is no secret that exercise can help with weight loss and that proper exercise certainly improves appearance and well being. Not unlike the plethora of diet books, there are a multitude of exercise plans and books as well. Unfortunately losing weight by exercising but not changing dietary habits is not a quick process.

The time to make a plan to lose weight is now.

Just look in the mirror. Are you ready to jump in front of a camera in your bathing suit? Do all of your clothes fit perfectly?
