Although a year may seem a long time, it's vital that you take the time, and lose weight slowly. If you lose too fast, your body doesn't have time to adjust, and neither does your lifestyle.

Here are the steps.

1. Make a Commitment

The first step requires you to make a decision. Are you ready to lose weight? You'll know whether you are or not.

If you're not, that's fine. Just focus on eating healthier foods, and on exercise. Your health is much more important than yo-yo dieting.

If you are ready to lose weight, you need to prepare - both for losing weight over weeks and months, and for your new lifestyle. Staying slim requires lifestyle changes.

Changes you need to make include: the type of food you eat, as well as developing your own fitness regime, of exercising consistently.

2. Be Relaxed, Expect to Get off Track

The next step is to expect to "fail" at weight loss. You will make wrong food choices, overeat, and forget to exercise.

This is normal. It's helpful. Expect to make mistakes, but stay relaxed, and get back on track as soon as possible.

3. Collect Information
