Lose Weight Permanently - No. 5 - Get In Touch With Your Mental health
Losing weight is not something that will just happen. You have to MAKE it happen. You may not like the thought of focusing on your mental health and wellbeing but it will help you to achieve your aims. There could be a whole number of reasons why you have become overweight.
Why do you eat as much as you do? Have you had any problems or issues over the years that have contributed to the situation? If you keep an eating diary then you will see that you are taking in far too many calories. That is why you have become overweight. There is no reason to get upset about it - you are not alone. Just realise that what has been going into your body represents more calories that what has been expended in energy. Look for reasons why these habits have developed - it many not be just sheer hunger.
So, have a concerted effort to get in touch with your mental health. Psychologists and nutritionists agree that overeating is usually a source of self-hatred or feelings associated with loneliness, depression, boredom, stress, anger or any number of other emotions. Do any of these apply to you? People tend to "cure" their feelings with food. Learning how to eat for hunger and enjoyment rather than pushing down emotions with food will lead to healthier habits. Find out your triggers and identify them. See a therapist or psychologist for help f you feel you need to. It may be very beneficial for you.
