A Weight Loss Miracle?



One of America"s biggest problems is, without a doubt, obesity. Obesity in children is becoming the norm. We no longer bat an eyelash at the huge portions we are served in restaurants, in fact we expect them; feel gypped if we don"t get them. One result of this attitude is showing up on waistlines al over the country. Americans are scrambling for a cure. They want an easy answer. And the answer to obesity has never been easy. However, it may start getting easier thanks to the discovery of... a cactus?

Hoodia, a cactus plant, hales from South Africa. It has been renowned by the likes of Oprah and other celebrities for its ability to accelerate the loss of weight. In the news of late the weight loss products created from the plant hoodia have been praised for their abilities to suppress appetite.

A team from the news telecast 60 minutes brought hoodia instant fame when they traveled all the way to South Africa to try the plant for themselves. They came away from that experience with the news that it did indeed suppress the appetite so much so that one participant said she felt no hunger for an entire day.

The plants ability to send the brain signals that the stomach is full are so strong that often times the brain is able to completely stop thoughts of food all together. Scientists who have studied the effects of the products derived from the plant have noted the greatly reduced intake of calories of those ingesting the hoodia. The impressive results have generated such a buzz that celebrities and media have been jumping on the hoodia band wagon.

Although authentic hoodia is very rare it has become a very popular and highly marketed product. Consumers must be careful to authenticate the product before they purchase it because there are companies out there who are promoting a hoodia product that is false. Hoodia has been a proven weight loss answer and has not shown any negative side effects. This newly discovered plant could be the miracle cure we"ve all been looking for.
