The Sonoma Diet Review - Do Mediterranean Diets Work?

The Sonoma diet is a combination of the California Sonoma valley enjoyment of great tasting foods, and Mediterranean lifestyle of eating a large variety of vegetables and spices. It is can be summed up as a "eat the stuff that is good for your body" diet. The diet has three steps referred to as waves:

On the first wave you remove sugar, white flour, and overly processed foods from your diet. We already knew that these were bad for us and should only be enjoyed in moderation. These types of foods do absolutely nothing for our bodies. The first wave of the Sonoma diet does not scrimp on the amount of food you can eat. You get large potions of fruits, vegetables, and lean meats. And even some healthier deserts, one thing that is unique about this diet is you get to drink wine. What! Everyone knows that you can gain weight from drinking alcohol, so why are they saying you can still have it? It is well known that Mediterranean's enjoy a large variety of healthy flavorful foods and wines, making each meal a celebration. The key here is moderation! Wave one lasts 10 days.

Now we move on to Wave 2. This wave will continue until you reach your desired weight. On Wave 2 you will continue to eat from their recommended food list, but the most important part of this diet is the portion size. You will use a 7-inch plate, or 2-cup bowl for your breakfast and a 9-inch plate for lunch and dinner. You will be given a diagram that shows you how to fill your plate (in other words, it's shows you how much of each type of food to eat).

As with any diet, after you reach your desired weight you will move onto Wave 3, which is the maintenance phase. This is how you will continue to eat for the rest of your life to stay lean and healthy. Many people have found this to be the perfect diet for them. There are tons of amazing recipes that come with the Sonoma diet. These recipes do not taste like diet recipes. They are so flavorful and healthy that you will not fell like you are depriving yourself of anything at all. The Sonoma diet forces you to take a breather and enjoy your meals. This is something we should all be doing! On the down side, the Sonoma Diet can be time intensive. All meals have to be prepared at home and fresh ingredients must be purchased every few days. Sonoma Diet adherents will say that this is a minor inconvenience that can be overcome with more careful planning.
