No More Sexual Performance Anxiety

What is sexual performance anxiety?

Well it includes but is not limited to:

1. Having trouble getting an erection.

2. Having ongoing problems with premature ejaculation.

3. Fearing that your partner will reject you if you don't please her.

4. A desperate need to please your partner while having sex.

5. Needing to work hard or be in control of foreplay and the sexual act.

6. An inability to relax while having sex.

7. Fear of deeper emotional intimacy with your partner while having sex.

For a significant percentage of men this can often lead to exactly what they fear, rejection followed by the associated trauma that only leads to further impotence and sexual performance anxiety.

What can be done about this unending and progressive spiral into impotence, loneliness and feelings of low self confidence?

Well there are a number of different isues that will need to be addressed.

First it must be recognized that often sexual performance anxiety has its roots in early childhood relationships with one's parents.

A young boy may for instance have an authoritative father who constantly undermines his son's self confidence in order to prop up his own. Often such fathers are in themselves feeling deeply impotent and unconsciously exploit their sons hoping to secure some confidence for themselves. Such fathers can often be heard saying such things as "When I was you age I.... ." ( I think you can fill in the blank if you know what I'm talking about).

Such statements are often traumatic to the child and can deeply undermine their self confidence. These emotional "scars" remain embedded in one's unconscious and later can serve to block the expression of their true virility in a number of areas i.e. career success, relationships, as well as sexually

Another example leading to sexual performance anxiety arises when a child has a demanding or needy mother who can never be emotionally satisfied and whose love is given conditionally based on the child being able to satisfy her. This is often seen in emotionally chronically depressed mothers.

The child is left feeling helpless, alone, frightened, and unloved. This imprints in them a deep sense of inadequacy and this can then later turn up in their future relationships.

Another cause, as mentioned above is the repeated trauma that ensues from being rejected by partners on the basis of the man's sexual difficulties.

What can be done about sexual performance anxiety?

Well it has been my expereince working with such men over the last 15 years that the key is to help them release the "root" of their problem from their unconscious mind and body.

By this I mean that the deep memory imprints of trauma must be uprooted and erased once and for all.
