Post Exercise Soreness

After exercise or unusual activities, we often feel stiff, sore, achy and tight in our muscles. The muscles are also tender to touch. Generally, we do nothing about it and wait for the symptoms to subside. After two to three days, we may recover from the symptoms without any residual problems. But if you already have muscle pain and discomfort prior to the exercise, any exercise or unusual activities will aggravate the underlying pain. Muscle spasms associated with unusual activity can irritate or compress the small nerve fibers and blood vessels within the muscles. The muscle spasms can also have a traction effect on bones and joints.

See-Saw Principle Of Muscle Function

If you note that a joint is tight, and you are feeling discomfort or pain, remember the see-saw principle of muscles that cross the joint on the front and the back surface of the joint. When two people sit on opposite sides of the see-saw, the heavyweight person will pull the plank down toward his side and the other person will be up in the air. Now, what is the easiest way to balance the see-saw? Removing the heavyweight person is harder since he is very heavy and he has a stronger hold since he may have his feet dug into the ground also. Initially, it is easier to balance the plank by putting more people on the side of the plank that is lighter.

Aerobic Exercise - Pain - Discomfort

Aerobic exercise suggestions for cardiovascular fitness include moderate-intensity exercise for at least 30 minutes a day 5 days/week. This can be achieved by walking 1.5 miles daily at 3-4 mph. Three 10-minute walks a day each day has also been suggested. Resistance training to help promote health benefits is also beneficial. How do you get chronic pain patients to have an aerobic exercise? They are told by others around them to exercise whereas their bodies tell them to rest. What is the best compromise? If they exercise there is exacerbation of pain. However some of them push themselves through pain believing in the "no pain no gain" trend of thinking.

Carpal Tunnel Syndrome

Carpal tunnel syndrome is an entrapment syndrome of the median nerve at the wrist level and can result from many disease conditions. If you have been diagnosed as having carpal tunnel syndrome it is important to exclude other conditions that can cause problems of the peripheral nerves especially metabolic conditions such as diabetes. The common mechanical cause for initiating the symptoms is from repetitive stress injury to the wrist. When there is carpal tunnel syndrome, the patient usually has symptoms of pain, tingling and or numbness in the thumb, index finger, middle finger and half of the ring finger closer to the middle finger.

How To Combat Acid Reflux Disease

You have acid reflux and it is not fun. Trust me, I know exactly how uncomfortable acid reflux disease can be and how it can slow you down. It is much more than simple heartburn which we all experience from time to time. Acid reflux occurs when the formation of gas and acidic things in the stomach causes severe pain or a burning sensation in the stomach and chest. This is known as Acid Reflux Disease, also known as Gastroespohaheal Reflux Disease. What happens is that you have eaten something you should not have. It does not need to be something you KNOW you should not eat, because acid reflux affects each of us differently.

Knee Pain - Thigh Pain - Crouching Or Squatting

Knee pain or hip pain after crouching or squatting is common in those with tight lower back, hip and knee muscles. Most of us who sit all day long have tight muscles in the lower back and lower limbs. So when we perform crouching or squatting movements whether done in a prolonged fashion or repetitively, you may feel weakness, discomfort or pain in the hips, groins, front of the thighs as well as along the inner aspect of the thighs and perhaps even knee pain. This should tell you that the muscles in these areas were abused by the crouching or squatting positions. The muscle responsible for discomfort or pain at the front of the thighs or pain in the front of the knees is the rectus femoris muscle and the muscle at the inner aspect of the thigh and knee that has been stressed is the adductor magnus muscle.

Drink Cocaine and Ride On Wild Bulls

More than 500 new energy drinks launched worldwide this year. Energy drinks aren't merely popular with young people. Most notably is their striking resemblance to carbonated cough syrup. The appeal is obvious when the bottom line is thoroughly investigated; they make up a $3.4 billion-a-year industry that grew by 80 percent last year. These elixirs vie for the dollars of teenagers with promises of weight loss, increased endurance and legal highs, all of which are simply promises rarely delivered upon.

Hodgkin s Disease

A cancer that starts in lymphatic tissue is Hodgkin's lymphoma. The lymph nodes and related organs that are part of the body's immune and blood-forming systems are contained to lymphatic tissue. The lymph nodes are small and can be found underneath the skin in the neck, underarm, and groin. They can be founded in other places in the body such as inside the chest, abdomen, and pelvis. Lymph nodes make and store infection-fighting white blood cells, called lymphocytes that are connected throughout the body by lymph vessels. A colorless, watery fluid (lymphatic fluid) that contains lymphocytes is carried by lymph vessels.
