An Overview Of Body Pollution

What is body pollution? As we are all aware, there is water pollution, there is air pollution, sea pollution and much more. But do we ever know what body pollution is. As a matter of fact, body pollution is what we all do to our body everyday. Here I am going to share with you various examples of how to we pollute our body.

First, let's look at the air that we breathe. Only 5% of pesticides reach target weeds and the rest runs off into water and goes into the air we breathe. Just imagine how polluted the air that we breathe. Besides that roughly four hundred million tons of chemicals are used or produced worldwide each year.

Next time you are dropping your children or grandchildren off at school; see how many kids have inhalers to help them with asthma related breathing problem. The level of pollution has overwhelmed children's natural ability to fight back and deactivate the toxic overload. In certain countries, 30-40% of asthma cases and 20-30% of all respiratory diseases can be directly linked to air pollution.

Next let's look at the water that we drink everyday. Millions of people around the world have no choice but to consume water that exceeds the lead contamination level deemed acceptable by the World Health Organization or WHO. And also one billion people, mostly women and children, are regularly exposed to levels of indoor air pollution again exceeding World Health Organization guidelines by up to 100 times.

As a matter of fact, from a recent studies show that over 80% of U.S. streams and rivers are contaminated with a broad array of medical drugs, including hormones, antibiotics, antidepressants and heart medications, as well as chemicals from personal care and household cleaning products. Furthermore, the average person consumes over fourteen pounds of food chemicals and additives each year. That means that over the course of a normal lifespan, we consume more than one thousand pounds of food chemicals and additives, not including those found in water and air. So, as a health tip, using only organic based cleaners in our home can reduce our exposure to chemicals considerably.

Finally, let look at the food that we eat. Out of 2700 chemicals that are marketed in quantities above 1000 tons per year, there is insufficient or no basic toxicity data on 86%of them. So, as a health tip, thoroughly washing fruits and vegetables with a non-toxic detergent will remove many of the chemicals. If available try special fruit and vegetable washes.
