I'm going to show you how to gain muscle size the right way. The reason I say the "right way" is due to the fact that conventional wisdom on muscle growth is pretty pathetic. The average person at the gym doesn't even know why they do the exercises they do. They're simply following what they saw someone else did. It was the same way with me. When I first started, I just looked around the world and tried to mimic those that seemed to do well. Well, I learned a lot of about mimicking people, but I didn't put on much mass. You first have to ask yourself; how do muscles grow? Obviously you rip muscle fibers in the gym and your body is forced to repair them. They make these repairs with the nutrition you provide to the body. That means your diet is going to be the biggest factor in whether those muscles grow. If you're not providing quality, than muscles will be unable to be rebuilt. Try eating smaller meals more often because that will provide a much more consistent flow of nutrients to the muscles.
As for working out, if you want to know how to gain muscle size, stick with the compound exercises. These are the ones that actually work huge chunks of the body all at the same time. Studies have shown that exercises like squats and deadlifts will actually force the entire body to grow bigger muscles.
