Essential Oils - Is it Really Worth the Money to Buy Quality Oils?
Your friend tells you about aromatherapy, and all the benefits they got from using essential oils. They even give you a copy of a CD talking about how essential oils provide a missing link in health care, and encourages you to listen to it. You are amazed. You never knew there could be so many benefits or such healing potential. You decide to purchase some essential oils to try. So you rush out to a health food store and purchase a bottle of essential oil. You think you have a good deal, because your friend paid a lot more for his.
But wait! What kind of deal did you get? Here's the problem. Aromatherapy has become so popular, that at least 200 different companies in the United States are now marketing essential oils. However, we know that there are many grades of essential oils, and that most essential oils available in the United States are of the very lowest grade and quality.
Personally, I avoided aromatherapy for many years because they just did not work! They really didn't. Fortunately, a friend of mine persisted, and I soon discovered that the reason they didn't work for me earlier is because they just were not good oils! When I use quality, therapeutic grade essential oils, they work! It's as simple as that.
Producing a quality oil suitable for aromatherapy purposes requires a lot of skill, patience, and expense. Most producers don't find it worth their trouble, and particularly their finances, to bother about quality. Then too, 98% of all essential oils are not produced for healing benefits. They are produced commercially for the perfume, cosmetic and dietary industries. Much of the remaining 2% is used for food flavoring, but might be sold for aromatherapy. All of this has a major impact on quality oils.
To most people, that cheap bottle of essential oil may smell wonderful, but does it have therapeutic qualities? The answer is NO! It is imperative that when you use essential oils for therapeutic aromatherapy that you are able to trust that your oil is properly distilled, and that it has not been adulterated or combined with synthetic oils. (It is estimated that for every pound of pure essential oils that is produced, that between 10-100 pounds of synthetic oil is made). Synthetic oils are not therapeutic. Non therapeutic oils can be dangerous to use.
If you decide to use essential oils, it is very important that you trust the company producing or providing your oils. Look for a company that has knowledge of oils, high standards for quality of essential oils, and uses proper equipment and techniques. Look for a company that analyzes its product in independent laboratories to assure high quality, a company that uses European standards for calibration of its equipment. Look for a company that analyzes samples of essential oils purchased from other countries and sources. In short you want a company that does not cut corners when it comes to quality. Otherwise, you will not be able to trust the product.
So is that cheap bottle worth it? Of course not. In fact, what ever you paid for it you can count for loss. Go for quality. You'll be glad you did. I invite you to visit my Web Page where I share the source for the essential oils I use.
