How To Effectively Treat Acne

1. Vitamin A

Vitamin A is used for a host of varieties but in this article, I will cover Vitamin A's beneficial effect on skin. Clinical studies have found Vitamin A to reduce sebum production, which causes flare-ups. And for those with large pores, it has also been found to decrease the size of pores.

Although this vitamin is beneficial in treating acne, treatment involving Vitamin A must be correctly applied with adequate dosages. Large doses of Vitamin A should always been done under the supervision of a well-qualified expert. Too much can cause a number of problems.

Common sources of Vitamin A can be found in: watermelon, cantaloupe, squash, sweet potatoes, carrots, spinach, broccoli and other leafy green vegetables.

2. Hygiene

Hygiene is essential in controlling and maintaining an acne free face. There have been times in my life when I have managed to get acne under control simply by taking showers, washing my face in the morning and at night, using a mild cleanser, and applying a water-based benzoyl peroxide formula. And the moment I stopped maintaining my hygiene, despite my continued use of bezoyl peroxide, my acne would flare-up right away. You can use the best acne treatments, the best benzoyl peroxide, the best cleanser, but if you do not maintain your hygiene, then all of that is a waste.

3. Water

Make sure you keep your water intake high. Water is used by your body to eliminate toxins. If you let toxins accumulate in your body, it can impair the function of your immune system and can cause acne itself. Water is an important part in having an acne free life and especially a healthy one.

4. Tea Tree Oil

Tea Tree Oil is applied directly to the face. I have friends who swear by this stuff. Tea tree oil kills acne causing bacteria. It is also cheap. Don't settle for ineffective products that cost an arm and a leg, instead use something that is effective like tea tree oil.

5. Strength of Product

If you are using benzoyl peroxide or any other acne treatment, make sure that the product is not too strong. Many people make the mistake of going to the store and buying the 10% benzoyl peroxide or the 10% whatever. Many are mislead into thinking that the product with the higher concentration works better. THIS IS FAR FROM THE TRUTH. I have been there and done that and while the 10% benzoyl peroxide might clear the acne, it will cause your skin to excessively dry out which will signal your body to INCREASE oil production. When buying acne treatment products, make sure you buy the most gentlest product.
