First Time Credit Cards
Are you interested in getting a credit card and it is going to be your first one? There are some things you need to know about getting a credit card and how to use it correctly. First time credit cards are great for your credit, as long as you are responsible with it. Here is what you should know.
First, make sure that you only use the card for things you can afford and treat it like real money and not credit. When you use your credit card to run up your limit you will only hurt your credit instead of helping it. Most people don't know that if you carry a balance that is more than 25% of your limit, then it actually hurts your credit.
Second, you need to use your credit card each month, but you have to pay it off each month as well. You can designate a specific expense just for your credit card. You could use it for gas and pay it off each month. Just take the cash you would have spent on gas and put it the bank instead of spending it on gas. Use your card for gas and use the cash to pay it off when you get your bill.
Last, if you don't have a good reason to carry more than one card, then don't. When you are starting out with your first credit card you need to make sure you learn correctly how to use it and be responsible with it. You need to stay away from the temptation to have more than one card. This will keep you from making bad decisions with your money.
Now you can get a first time credit card and use it correctly. First time credit cards are a great way to build your credit and get you started on the right track towards having perfect credit.
