Could Using a Shell Gas Credit Card Save You Money?

By now, we all realize that the cost of gasoline will only continue rising. I've got a little tip for those who use Shell gasoline in your vehicles, or may consider doing so. If you purchase your fuel with a Shell gas credit card, you can save up to 6% of your cost. You don't actually save this 6% directly at the pump when you fill up, but instead, you get each amount rebated back to you in the form of cash back bonuses.

Years ago it was quite popular to use a specific brand name gas card, such as Shell, Amoco, Exxon, etc., to use for all of your purchases at your preferred brand gas station. Over the years these companies have moved away from these types of cards. Today, they are partnering with major credit card companies to offer MasterCard and VISA with special cash back and bonus deals in exchange for your loyalty.

Now, you cannot use just any MasterCard or VISA for gas station credit cards, though many, but not all, do allot you 1% cash back. So, in order to get your best deal, it pays to know what is available to you. If you want specifically Shell gas credit cards, then you need to do a little comparison. The same applies for Amoco, Exxon, BP, Mobil, and all the rest of the oil companies.

You will also find that you can get other cash back options and rebates for many other purchases when you use your card. These too will vary. Some example savings include purchases at restaurants, grocery stores, home improvements stores, and travel rewards. Yes, you can buy your groceries and get cashback. You can take a vacation or business trip and get cash back for your airline tickets, car rentals, and hotel stays too. The possibilities are endless, but as I said, all of these rewards vary by which card you choose.

In most, but not all, cases you will not have to pay an annual fee. You should always read all of the terms and conditions that are applicable before you apply so as not to have any surprises. In most cases, an issuer will require you to have a least a good credit rating too. There are exceptions, but read all of the fine print.

If you are concerned with the rising cost of gasoline, want to save as much as you possibly can, and use your card wisely, then I recommend you apply for a Shell gas credit card and use it for all of your purchases at the gas pumps.
