Proprietary Products Advantages

We have seen or used proprietary products more than once in our lifetime. These are the products that can only work with a specific device. Countless people use the products and never think why this disc only works with this media player, or why this program works with only this brand of computer? This article will delve into the advantages many companies have with the use of proprietary products.. Proprietary is defined as a product, object or idea exclusively owned by someone. It is usually covered by a patent, which makes it exclusive and cannot be used by outside parties without discussion or permissions for its use.

DVD Burning Easier Than You Think

The hardware necessary to burn DVDs has become extremely popular over the past few years. Years ago this type of hardware would require an upgrade on the standard computer, now they are becoming standard equipment. With the addition of a DVD burner, computer users have many more options available from burning DVDs to watching them. As a result the entertainment value of the computer has greatly increased. There are two necessary components in order to copy a DVD, the hardware and software. The hardware is a DVD burner which can be internal or external. It is now very common to find an internal DVD burner on most new computers.

Put Remote Management To Work In Your Branch Office

Remote system management is an increasingly important issue facing many businesses today. As corporate consolidation integrates additional locations within the same infrastructure, IT professionals face a more demanding environment. Recent surveys show that as many as 95 percent of branch offices operate without on-site IT personnel (1). Additionally, other surveys indicate that while spending on corporate IT staff still constitutes the largest component of most IT budgets, it continues to decline-from 42 percent in 2005 to 37 percent this past year. (2) These trends require IT professionals to do more with less and determine more effective ways to perform critical tasks.

What Is A Jump Drive And How Does It Work?

A jump drive - also known as a USB drive, flash drive, keychain drive, or disk-on-key - is a plug-and-play portable storage device that uses flash memory and is lightweight enough to attach to a key chain. A jump drive, which looks very much like an ordinary highlighter marker pen, can be used in place of a floppy disk, Zip drive disk, or CD. When the user plugs the device into their USB port, the computer's operating system recognizes the device as a removable drive and assigns it a drive letter. Unlike most removable drives, a jump drive does not require rebooting after it's attached, does not require batteries or an external power supply, and is not platform dependent.

Ink Cartridge Burning Holes In Pockets

If you are faced with the situation of your computer"s printer running out of ink for the first time, then it is time for you to get scared! All the branded printer ink cartridges that are compatible with your HP printer (or is it Canon or Lexmark or Epson or... ) will cost you a bomb! Yes this fact is rued by many (including yours truly) that the so called "compatible ink cartridges" are just too costly and the cumulative price of couple of these might actually fetch you a nice low cost printer! Most of these inkjet printers use thermal ink jet cartridges that rely on the principle of heat swelling up the volume of the ink causing it to flow on the sheet of the paper.

Batteries and the HP NC6000 Notebook

The HP nc6000 notebook has the capacity for two batteries -- a 'primary' battery and a 'Multiday' battery (that slides into the same slot used for a DVD/CD drive.) When on battery power the notebook utilizes the primary battery first until it drains out, then it is supposed to switch over to the Multiday battery. When the primary battery drained down to zero, all power cut off to the notebook and it immediately shut down. You have to tell it to utilize the other battery; I'd guess it's the power and battery options in control panel. I don't have a notebook with a similar configuration, so I can't really give an exact answer.

The Different Memory Cards And The Speed Of Some Of Them

The MMC and Secure digital cards are not the same but are interchangeable. The difference has to do with copy protections of the disk volume on the SD card. This extra feature makes the SD attractive for people who use them in MP3 players. No other cards are interchangeable. The Canon Power shot A510 you described comes with only 16MB, so it would be best to invest in more memory capacity. What I would recommend is getting one memory card that you will be able to use, even as your need for the amount of pictures you want to take changes. For this use I would recommend the SanDisk 1 GB Secure Digital Memory Card.

DeFragging Your Hard Drive

A multi-tasker needs all the RAM his PC will handle. I just increased mine to 2GB and I can tell a big difference. On the other hand, 512MB is a pretty healthy amount of real memory for a notebook - especially if you are using a PIV processor. If you have a Celeron, however, it needs a lot of help. I have resorted to the reformat, reinstall process a few times - but it was always with Celerons and the computers were slow from the second you turned them on. I would first try dumping all of your background programs. You can do that by running msconfig', choosing selective startup', going to the startup tab, and unchecking everything but your antivirus program.

Reformatting USB Flash Memory

Flash memory or USB memory is similar to disk drives. In fact it is recommended you 'reformat' them often in order to keep the entire memory clean and workable. I would recommend you reformat your 256MB flash memory with the software that came with it. If none came with it, do a web search on the manufacturer type. There you will find free downloadable software to use to accomplish this task. Remember that USB flash memory in a system is handled like another disk drive. Therefore you must contact the manufacturer determine if the flash memory can be 'reformatted' to meet the new requirements.

Installing, Uninstalling, And Upgrades For Your Computer

Regarding newer motherboards: most newer GeForce series boards are faster, the 6800GS and 6800GT are faster, but hard to find, the 7600GT is comparable in performance to the 6800GT so therefore likely faster. The GeForce 7800 and 7900 series will be much faster, and the 8800 series will be downright absurdly fast. Obviously something is wrong so if you want to turn your on board graphics card back on just go and look on your motherboard for a watch battery the size of a quarter. Remove it. Then look for a jumper (three wires sticking up from the motherboard by the battery or just two). If there are 2 and they have no plastic jumper on them then short them out with the computer off and then remove the short and replace the battery and turn it on.
