Maximize EBay Profits Using Terapeak Research Tools

Why It's Important to Research Products to Sell on eBay

I'm going to assume for this Terapeak review that you already know what to sell on eBay and where to find products to sell on eBay. You may even have found so many sources for products to sell that you don't know which ones to focus on. The difficulty is finding products that you can sell for a PROFIT on eBay, and the only way to do that is to know how much an item will sell for BEFORE you buy it. Otherwise you'll end up paying too much for something and your potential profit will disappear. In this Terapeak review, I'll tell you how you can use Terapeak's eBay research tool to know which products you can sell profitably.

Things to Keep in Mind when Researching Items for eBay

Since you understand now why it's essential to analyze products before you purchase them, let's talk about what product research looks like.

Two things are most essential: Sell Through Rate (STR%) and Average Sales Price (ASP).

The Sell Through Rate is the percentage of items that were sold out of those that were listed. So if ten items were listed and 5 sold, the STR is 50%. As a general rule, anything over 50% is a nice sell through rate. 60-70% is awesome, and if you find a product with an 80% or better STR, you're on your way to a great day.

But there's more to know than the STR. You also need to know how much something will sell for. If it has an 80% sell through rate, but you can't purchase it for less than it sells for, you need to move on to your next potential product. Average Sales Price (ASP) is just what it sounds like. For a certain length of time it's the price a particular product has sold for, on average.

How to Find the ASP and STR

On eBay, using the advanced search feature looking at completed listings, it's not an automatic effort to learn the average sales price. You have to look through the list and either copy down the numbers or do them in your head. EBay only shows the last 15 days sales, which is not long enough when you're trying to sell a rare item.

The best tool I have been able to find to do eBay product research is a web service called Terapeak. Using Terapeak, you can enter the name of a product and almost instantaneously it will present the number of eBay listing matches for your product. You can review any time frame from 7 days up to 90 days, which is really great for unusual items.

It also shows you the Average Sales Price and Sell Through Rate. You can omit listings that don't match what you're looking for. And you can also view the listings on eBay that were shown in the search results, their start price, listing strategies, extra listing features, and more. There's really much more to this tool than can be described in such a short article. Honestly, Terapeak has saved me hundreds of dollars by showing how much I could pay for products. It's also made hundreds of dollars for me by showing the highest price I should get for products I'm selling. Using Terapeak I went from using eBay as a hobby to Powerseller status in a few months. If you really want to make money on eBay, you really need to use an auction research tool like Terapeak.
