Why You Should Look Into Joining the Indio Chamber of Commerce
Not long ago, I talked to a local small business just off the main drag of Highway 111 and he said business had picked up due to the economic development in his area, but things were a little tough due to the slowdown in the economy. I bought him a cup of coffee and we talked, it turned out he had spent a small fortune on advertising, some had worked and some did not, but he hadn't bothered to get involved in the community.
Now, before we get into the advice that I gave him, let me just say that over the last 27-years I had built a small company into a multi-state franchising company and we did it by being involved in the communities we served. We always joined the local Chambers of Commerce, volunteered in service clubs and gave back as we grew our company.
So, my advice to this young man was to get involved and to continue to advertise more consistently spreading out his venues, and tracking the results. I advised better use of his newspaper advertising and a longer term approach, so that his customers would know where to find him.
Then I gave him then name and phone number of the Indio Chamber of Commerce. I explained why he needed to attend meetings and how this would help his business. You know it's truly amazing what a little bit of community involvement and small business networking can do to boost sales and make your business part of the community you serve. Please be thinking here, I want your business to do as great as mine has over the years.
