Building the Buzz About Your Biz

Is there a buzz about your business in your local community? If not what are you doing to start a buzz? A good place to start your buzz is with local organizations and getting attention from the local press. First, you need to grab their attention by either hosting an event or doing something innovative compared to your competitors.

Marketing seems to get the wrap that in order to be effective you have to spend a lot of money. There is some truth to this, but you can also encompass some guerilla marketing tactics to help your business get attention for an affordable price. To prove to you that this is possible, three examples will be provided with a brief explanation on how to approach the item and start making worker bees to help you build the buzz about your business.

First Free Tactic - Host a business after hours sponsored by your chamber of commerce. This allows business owners in the community to network and get a taste of your store at no cost. Because it is after hours the customer is not placed to the side while you are trying to network with potential clients or "worker bees." Worker bees are referrals that will spread the word about your business if they like what you are doing.

Second Free Tactic - Have a book club at your business before operating hours. This simply gets your name in the paper for local events every week. Your creating an event that will allow people to network and become educated while enjoying the atmosphere of your business. Once again this opens the door to potential referrals or future clients. You also remain in the daily newspaper, which is a big "worker bee" for your business.

Third Free Tactic - Sponsoring a sports camp in the community. A sports camp allows you to engage with the youth and their parents who hold the pocketbook. If you are taking care of children in the community then community will take care of you. If children like your business they will never stop talking about it to their friends, who will tell their parents. This is a little bee that will keep on buzzing.

These tactics are just a few of the free marketing possibilities in your community to help you create a buzz about your business. If you already started your own business then you know what it takes to be innovative and that's what guerrilla marketing is all about. If you have trouble being innovative spend more time with the youth around you. The younger generation has an imagination that is beyond compare and it will help you think outside the box. Keep on building your buzz and your business can become the queen bee above all your competitors.
