Switch Off That Phone!
In many organisations we visit we see meetings where people arrive late, and unprepared for the agenda items under discussion. Too often, people are more or less openly checking their emails on their BlackBerry or laptop during the meeting, or even answering their mobile and leaving the room for a while to take a call! Even where electronic gadgets are left outside or switched off, we often see people not listening to each other. They talk over each other, interrupt the person speaking, or start side conversations while someone is presenting. Sometimes meetings have no clear agenda at all, or only a simple list of topics to be discussed with no clear indication of the intended outcome of each item.

Put Business Model Innovation First, and Stay Focused on It
"Get there first with the most. .. ." -- Nathan Bedford Forrest ".. . model to thy inward greatness. .. ." -- Shakespeare Many of the most attractive business model innovations will allow only one company to prosper by following that particular path. Even better is the circumstance where once that path is taken by anyone, many other potentially attractive paths are made smaller or are permanently closed off for others. In an industry in which little business model innovation has occurred, a disproportionate potential for success can be grasped by the first company to take such a dominating track.
Top 10 Reasons Why Financial Disasters Are Inevitable
Proper money management and at least basic financial education is one of the biggest assets you can possess. It's not so expensive or unattainable as most people imagine. However, the following Top 10 Reasons are a paved path to financial hell: 1) No financial education. This is definitely the number one reason why we mess up our financial lives because no one taught us how to manage it! Think about it: who teaches you how to manage your finances? The answer is a resounding "no one". The conventional school we attend does not teach us, neither does business school nor our bosses. Since you and I know that more than 95% of the human population are not rich, either, our neighbors next door are obviously just as blind as we are.
Nobody is Going to Shoot You While They re Laughing
What do you do when you're talking to a potential customer or just having a discussion with one of your people and everything goes wrong: when you fumble or stumble, when you can't find the information you need, when the information you do find is wrong? Try laughter. Try making a joke out of it, using self-deprecating humor. It shows confidence. It shows that you're amazed things went wrong. It makes what could be a problem fun for the people you're dealing with. Humor also sells. In one study of humor in negotiation, "buyers" who made their final offer with a smile and a quip, "Well, my final offer is x dollars and I'll throw in my pet frog, " were able to make the buy at a lower price.
