The Business Mind Vs The Employee Mind

I notice three types of brand new marketers in forums, whiners, beggars and askers. The difference between these three types of new marketers will determine whether they become successful.

Whiners are new marketers who complain they don't understand how this or that marketing system works. They've lost nine fingers in an accident and must use the computer at the library at 11:00 PM taking three buses to get there. Good people feel sorry for these whiney new marketers, as we should, but they basically get their questions answered and do not look any further, simply doing what they're told, much like an employee does what he or she is told by his or her employer.

Beggars usually start out with a phrase such as "Oh, someone please help me". The beggar new marketer then proceeds to tell us about how he/she lost his/her job and just spent all their money on this get rich quick program (yes folks, caution is advised they are out there) and if he/she doesn't make money soon then he/she doesn't know how the children are going to get fed, will have to sell the house, will have to file bankruptcy etc. etc.. Good people feel sorry for these begging new marketers, as we should, but they basically get their questions answered and do not look any further, simply doing what they're told, much like an employee does what he or she is told by his or her employer.

Askers, in many cases have done their own research first, they've looked around the forum and if they cannot find the answer it usually starts "I've researched the forum and cannot find the answer to this ...."

Though the whiners and the beggars get our pity, the askers get our respect. If I was going to go into a joint venture or become the affiliate of a new marketer, it would be an asker. The asker has a business mind. Whatever the asker is told in the forum, he/she will remember and go past that information doing his/her own research.

The procedure is really the same as any business online or offline - research, learn, test, repeat

A business mind knows this. The asker accepts responsibility for his or her success or failure. The asker understands his or her bosses are his or her clients which have purchased products from the asker. The asker uses examples from everywhere including successful offline retail outlets, bookstores, and examples from successful online marketers, but they don't copy, they don't just do what they're told, they test, modify and make it their own.

I'd like to caution the whiners and beggars. I believe their frustration and wish for an instant fix will bring them to the dark world of the spammer, who moves from one email address and one forum to another, stopping just long enough to place an off topic advertisement, hoping and praying someone will see it and buy a product from them. The askers joins email groups and forums, asking questions and develops long term relationships, using their signature file and the occasional link to share information, prompting not only people to buy their product but refer others to the asker as well.

We're all to some degree, whiners, beggars and askers. I welcome all new marketers to the world of business and wish them luck. I also wish them great success in step one - developing their business mind.
