New Paypal Dispute Claims More Buyer Friendly
Many sellers are unaware that paypal have gone through a major upheaval in the way paypal disputes claims are handled. Normally when a buyer files a paypal claim for an "item not as described" the seller is given an option to dispute this claim, with evidence via proof of postage that the item was sent, this was how paypal disputes were handled both for "non-receipt of goods", and for "items not as described" now, paypal dispute claims for "non-receipt of goods" no longer require proof of postage ( as the buyer already has the goods, there is no need for further proof of delivery, so this makes sense), instead the options for a seller are to provide proof of a refund, provide a refund either via their available balance or a credit/debit card, not challenge the dispute or make a statement as to why a refund is not being issued, which will then be looked at by a paypal employee.
Many sellers are a little apprehensive as compared to previous ways of dealing with paypal disputes this particular process could be open to abuse, as many sellers will not take kindly to in this new process is that their postal address will be released to the buyer in the event of the seller winning the paypal claim, obviously this could easily be open to threats and unwarranted harassment from the buyer, and many sellers consider this an underhand tactic by paypal to force them into settling disputes amicably with the buyer early.
