Responsible Advertising - Is it Still Around?

Am I alone? Recently I've noticed a growth in what once would have been condemned as misleading advertising. You know the kind of thing I mean - advertisements that appear to say clearly what the advantages of a given product are, yet nevertheless (intentionally? ) mislead. I'm currently on an extended holiday in the UK and have seen numerous examples on British TV. Example: A hair spray commercial that shows a well known celebrity's beautiful hair as a result of using a certain product - but look closely and you'll see text at the bottom of the screen that tells you that the celebrity is actually wearing hair extensions!

What Do the Customers See?

I have to ask myself over and over again when seeing brochures whether or not the person who wrote it had the customer in mind, or if they were just making a brochure for themselves. Now, they might have thought they had the customers in mind, when in reality all they had was their version of the customer in the forefront of their mind. That right there is really the biggest issue that most companies face when it comes to how they handle their marketing. They might think they're focusing on only the customers with their brochure printing when all they've done is decided that this is who the customers are, and this is what they'll like.

Promotional Products For Company Anniversaries

Promotional products are not only helpful in promoting business and brands but these are also good way to commemorate anniversary celebrations of an organization. The anniversary celebration of an organization is a special occasion and a great opportunity to connect with its clients. And, what better way than handing out cool promotional products to clients. By distributing promo products to clients, the organization will also make them a part of the anniversary celebrations which will help greatly in building long term interpersonal relationships with clients. The promo products can also be handed out to employees on this special occasion.

Some Advertising Products Are More Suitable Than Others

There are so many advertising products on the market that it may be difficult to decide which one is best suited for the need of your business's specific promotion. With nearly every item under the sun available for promotion, the question looms, which advertising product is right for me? This is a valid question. To make it easier, here is a breakdown of advertising products that were used for promotion in the year of 2006{1}: Wearables-Wearable items topped the chart for branded advertising products with nearly 31% of the share of total products in 2006. Wearable items generally refer to clothing, such as shorts, pants, shirts (tee shirts, casual collared shirts, button down), and hats (baseball, golf, fishing).

What is a Vanity Number?

A vanity number is a specialized type of 800, or toll free number, and is alphanumeric equivalent of a regular numeric telephone number. Most of these numbers are also mnemonic devices, that is they spell out words, usually the name of a business or some phrase associated with it like 1800FLOWERS, or 1800YELLOW Pages. These numbers are a good way to brand a company in the minds of the consumer, so choosing just the right number is vital. Since these 800 numbers are free for customers, they are more motivated to call them, and these calls often result in sales, and increased customer service and satisfaction.

Ad Testing and Tracking - So What Does it All Mean?

You've built your page and displayed your ad. Sales have come in but you're wondering if you are missing out? You know that it is worthwhile to test and track your ad, but, where do you start? As with all things reliant on human nature, there is no real starting point. Which also means there is no wrong place either. The main point is to make a change and breathe new life into your sales. After your initial sales bonanza, take advantage of your right to obtain feedback. Take a look at your page again and write some specific questions that will add pertinent information to your testing studies.

Ad Testing and Tracking - Pimp My Ad

Are you happy with the way your page looks? Seeing your site through the eyes of a potential customer is a great way to test its viability. Have a friend take a look and ask their opinion. Heck, get a few friends to do it and use their views as positive testing. Look closely at the layout of your ad. Certainly you can see just how important the overall appearance will affect sales. Color alone can make all the difference in the world. It can also turn you into a blithering idiot! Lets face it, everyone has different tastes. Did you know, the color red makes people want to eat? There are scripts available now that will tell you what the best COLOR combinations are as well as book after book that will tell you what color induces what emotion.

The Hidden Benefit

What do we mean by the hidden benefit? It is this inner emotion that excites and motivates us to take action. If we know what makes the customers buy we've got them by our lead. All we do then is just guide them through the closing process of the sale. For example, the other day I was listening to the radio, Colorado were doing a 15 second ad. We know Colorado are known for it's hard and tough shoes. Well, the ad ran something like this: First they created a theater of the mind by picturing a man going out into the hard rugged forests. This was demonstrated by using real sounds of nature such as footsteps walking in the forest and the calming sounds of waterfalls.

The Second of Five Ways to Promote Your Agency Using Marketing 2.0

"The sole purpose of Marketing is to sell more to more people, more often and for more money." Sergio Zyman I agree with Zyman's quote whether it's Marketing 1.0 or Marketing 2.0. I say that at the outset because I've heard people in agencies say that they have better things to do than write blog posts and update their status on Facebook. In the little picture of daily demands, that may be true, but in the bigger picture of using these tools to truly understand an emerging medium, and be able to relay those insights to clients, they don't. You can go to conferences and training sessions about social media all day long, but the only way to truly learn it is to do it, and learn with everyone else who is still trying to figure it out.
